Charles BENYON of 55 Bennett Street, Newton Moor, Hyde, Cheshire. (Elecrician) John DOBSON (deceased) formerly of 55 Bennett Street, Newton Moor, Hyde, Cheshire (Motor Mechanic) Hannah JACKSON (deceased) formerly Hannah DOBSON, of 55 Bennett Street, Newton Moor, Hyde, Cheshire. SUBJECT The document is headed "Abstract of Title of Mr Charles Benyon and his Mortgagees to a freehold plot of land and the messuage thereon situate at number 55 Bennett Street, Newton Hyde, Cheshire". It summarises events relating to this property from 1874 to 1926. These begin with the sale of a plot of 776 square yards to John Dobson who undertook to erect one or more houses on the plot within two years. In fact it appears that six houses, numbers 55-65 Bennett Street, were built. John Dobson died in 1885 leaving the property to his wife Hannah. In 1891 Hannah Dobson remarried and became Hannah Jackson, wife of Robert Jackson. Hannah died in 1923 and number 55 Bennett Street was sold by her executors to Charles Benyon. The other properties at 57-65 Bennett Street were sold separately to Ernest Wood. In 1925 Charles Benyon mortgaged the property to the Ashton under Lyme Permanent Benefit Building Society for £200. | |||||||||||
