George BIRKENHEAD of Cross Street, Parish of Ashton upon Mersey, Cheshire. General Shopkeeper. Sarah HUNTER of Ashton upon Mersey, Cheshire. Widow. SUBJECT The document begins by reciting that in 1856 George Birkenhead mortgaged property in Sale, Cheshire, to the Rev John Hunter for £550. John Hunter died in 1863 leaving his property to his wife Sarah (party to this Indenture). George Birkenhead is now borrowing a further £250 from Sarah Hunter. The property consists of a plot of land in Sale, Cheshire, known as Smithy Meadow, on the east side of the turnpike road from Manchester to Altrincham. The total area is 1347 square yards and there were two houses in the course of erection in 1856. | |||||||||||||||
