SUBJECT
We are told that 1835 John Jones had mortgaged property in Walford to Thomas Whittaker for £20. Then, in May 1836, Thomas Whittaker was declared insolvent and sent to Hereford Prison with all his assets assigned to Richard Jackson to be used to settle his debts.

Since then, Thomas Whittaker has been released from prison and settled his debts. He has asked John Jones to repay the mortgage but the latter is unable to do so. Accordingly, the mortgage is being transferred to Mary Dally and, at the same time, increased to £30; ie Mary Dally pays £20 to Thomas Whittaker and £10 to John Jones and takes over the mortgage.

The property consists of a cottage and half-acre of land at Warren Wood, having the road from The Warren to Bulls Hill on the upper side.
