PARTIES
James Ramsay CUTHBERT of Berkeley Square, City of Westminster, London. Esquire. Thomas ECCLESTON and Eleanor his wife, of Scarisbrick, Lancashire. Esquire. Thomas WEST of Eccleston, Lancashire. Gentleman. John SCOTT of St Mildreds Court, City of London. Esquire. Joseph Seaton ASPDEN of Preston, Lancashire. Gentleman. SUBJECT This is the second part of a contract of Lease and Release in which Thomas Eccleston is selling property in Eccleston, Lancashire, to Thomas West for £2012/10-d. This property together with the Manor of Eccleston and other lands had previously been mortgaged by Thomas Eccleston to James Cuthebert for £30,000, so the latter is involved here to release this piece of property from the mortgage charge. The property consists of a tenement called Makins with 9 acres of land, of which Thomas West is already the tenant. Another 4 acres of land are also included. John Scott and Joseph Seaton appear only as trustees and play no real part. There is a Schedule of Deeds relating to this property going back to 1725 and which appear to show that it had been owned by the Eccleston family throughout that period. Two Memoranda added on the back indicate that two pieces of this property were sold by Frances West (Widow) in 1851. | |||||||||||
