John CLAYTON of Tottleworth in the township of Rushton, Lancashire. Farmer. John DODGSON of Blackburn, Lancashire. Gentleman. William CLAYTON (deceased) of Lane Side, Blackburn, Lancashire. Yeoman. SUBJECT The document begins by reciting the Will of William Clayton made in 1903, in which he leaves two dwelling houses in Jack Croft in Blackburn, to his nephew John Clayton. John Clayton is now mortgaging the property to John Dodgson for £50. We are also told of another parcel of land in Blackburn on which John Clayton took a 999 year lease in 1821. This is also being used as additional security for the mortgage. Note that in 1821 John Clayton is described as being, "of Bottom Gate within Blackburn, Shopkeeper". | ||||||||||||
