PARTIES Robert ELMHIRST of Ouslethwait, Yorkshire. Gentleman. Joseph KNOWLES of New Inn, Middlesex. Gentleman. SUBJECT This is the first part of a contract of sale by Lease and Release in which Robert Elmhirst is selling property in the parishes of Wroot (Lincolnshire) and Hatfield (Yorkshire) to Joseph Knowles. The property consists of 1. A messuage with 3 acres of land which is partly in each of the two parishes above at Corn Carr. 2. A close of half an acre called Alderholme, also partly in both parishes. 3. Several closes totalling 120 acres adjoining (1) called Canby Ground. 4. Several closes totalling 30 acres in the Levels in the parish of Hatfield. NB It looks as though this sale must have fallen through since we have another document REF 0511016 dated three months later, in which Robert Elmhirst seems to be selling the same property again.
