PARTIES
The Rev Charles GREENWAY of Darwen, Lancashire. Clerk. James HODKINSON of Darwen, Lancashire. Cotton Manufacturer. SUBJECT Charles Greenway is granting a lease of 999 years to James Hodkinson on property in Darwen, Lancashire. It consists of a plot of 926 square yards on the North Side of Wood Street, Darwen, and is let at a rent of £7/14/4d per annum. The lessee undertakes to erect, within one year, one or more dwellinghouses or other building with a letting value of at least double the ground rent. It appears that the property came into the hands of the Rev Charles Greenway via the will of James Greenway (deceased). Various memoranda dated between 1890 and 1892 indicate that at least 4 houses were built, numbers 11, 13, 15 and 17 Wood Street, and the residue of the lease on each has been sold off separately. | ||||||||||||
