SUBJECT
James Hodkinson is borrowing £180 from the other 3 parties on a mortgage on property in Darwen, Lancashire.

The property consists of a dwelling house at No. 19 Wood Street, Livesey Fold, Darwen on a plot of 926 sq.yds. It appears that this had been part of a larger plot aquired by James Hodkinson in 1888 but that 4 other houses at Nos. 11, 13, 15 and 17 have already been sold off separately. (The remaining house at No. 19 is in the occupation of James Hodkinson himself.)

The Indenture of Reconveyance of 1902 records that the mortgage has been repaid and the property is being reconveyed to James Hodkinson. We are also told that Thomas Townend died in 1894 and the mortgage was then held by Timothy Lightbown and John Preston only.
