Summary of contents:
PARTIES James Barber EDWARDS of Deal, Kent. Gentleman. William Edward SMITH of 45 Upper Bedford Place, Russell Square, Middlesex. Architect. SUBJECT The document is headed "Abstract of Title of James Barber Edwards to a piece of land containing 2 acres adjoining Southwood Road, Parish of St Lawrence" (which is on the Isle of Thanet near Kent). It consists solely of a abstract of an Indenture made in 1867. In that Indenture, James Barber Edwards acquired the property for £1000. William Smith had been the previous owner but there had been a complicated history of a mortgage on the property made to a bank which had since been liquidated. The document is not dated, but I have taken the watermark in the paper as an approximate date.
