SUBJECT The Indenture relates to a plot of land in Foubridge, Colne, Lancashire, containing 242 square years with 2 cottages built on it. The document begins by telling us that in 1824 this plot was mortgaged by Robert Judson to John Spencer as security for a loan of £100. The money was repaid in 1831 'but no reconveyance hath yet been taken from the said John Spencer'. Robert Judson is now borrowing £100 from John Wilkinson again with a mortgage on the same property. This is all done with the consent of John Spencer who is now acknowledging that the earlier loan was repaid. | ||||||||||||
