William Nichols of Leek, Staffordshire, Provision dealer Joshua Brough of Leek, Staffordshire, Silk Manufacturer George Hammersley of Leek, Staffordshire, Gentleman Charles Heaton of Leek, Staffordshire, Physician John Ward of Leek, Staffordshire, Silk Manufacturer (These latter 4 parties are trustees of the Leek & Moorlands Building Society) SUBJECT The first document is a manuscript draft of a mortgage for £275 borrowed from the Leek and Moorlands Building Society by William Nichols. It is secured on a messuage and shop in London Road, Leek and tells us that William Nichols bought the property the same day from Charles Cumberbatch.
