Fair. All pages have a small tear in the centre at the intersection of the folds. Otherwise clear, complete and in good condition.
Description:
Paper : 6 sheets written plus 1 cover sheet 42cm x 33cm. This is a manuscript copy of a Will of 08/05/1857. The cover sheet is of paper watermarked 1863, so presumably this is approximately when the copy was made.
Summary of contents:
Testator Henry Collett of Clanfield, Oxfordshire, Gentleman. Beneficiaries Thomas Collett (brother) William Collett (brother) Elizabeth (nee Collett) widow of William Weller (sister) Rachel (nee Collett) wife of William Horn (sister) Subject Other beneficiaries are Anne Collett, the widow of Henry's deceased brother James, and Anne's 4 children, Thomas, Henry, Pamela and Jemima. Henry tells us that he is a Lay Rector of the Impropriate Rectory of the Parish of Clanfield and is bequeathing his share of tithes due to this office. Some of his property has also been awarded to him in lieu of Glebe Lands, He has much property in Clanfield including the windmill which is distributed amongst his brothers and sisters, and also property in Alverscot, Oxfordshire and at Aston, Parish of Bampton, Oxfordshire.
