Henry SMITH of Ironbridge, Shropshire. Grocer. SUBJECT John Davis is selling property in Madeley, Shropshire, to Thomas and Henry Smith for £400. It consists of a dwellinghouse at the Brockholes, together with a parcel of pasture adjoining, known as Billingsleys or Pipers Leason. Two dwellinghouses have been erected on this latter piece of land by John Davies. We are told that since 1854 a mortgage of £200 has been owing to Thomas Jones on this property. Accordingly, half of the purchase price has been paid direct to Thomas Jones in discharge of the mortgage. It appears that John Davis acquired the property in 1851.
