The document relates to the will of James Cochrane who died in 1852 having appointed Henry Brown and John Glover as his executors. He directed that his real estate be sold and the proceeds divided between his 6 sisters - Elizabeth GILRAY, Mary AFFLEK, Jane WOOD, Ellen BAXTER, Margaret ALEXANDER, and Jannett PIRRIE and also the children of his brother Philip COCHRANE.

In this document the descendants of Jannett Pirrie are acknowledging that they have received their shares, which are each 1/36th of the total, and are releasing the executors from further responsibility.
