Joseph SIMPSON formerly of Penrith but now of Walne, County of Butter, Ohio, USA.

NB We are told that Ann Wilson is the sister and heir of George Crosby who was the son and heir of Edward Crosby of Tebay in Orton.

SUBJECT
This is the first part of a contract of sale by Lease and Release in which Ann Wilson is selling property in Tebay to Joseph Simpson.

The property is a messuage known as Tebay Town Foot and appears to have some arable land (unspecified) attached. Part of the property is freehold but some of it is described as 'customary' (presumably copyhold).

The phrase relating to tithes gives an unusual amount of detail : " all and every the tithes and terths of calves, colts and other white tithes also white soul tithes and nulkness (?) and also all rate tithes or the tithe rents yearly payment or customs payable ".
