The Indenture relates to a dwellinghouse at Bank Top in Southowram, Halifax. We are told that a 1000 year lease on this property had been granted to James Haigh the father of Francis Haigh in 1755 by the Lord of the Manor of Southowram.The rent is 2s 6d per annum. James Haigh passed this on to his son Francis in his Will dated 1799.
Francis Haigh is now mortgaging the residue of the lease to James Goodall for £60.
This is an exceptionally large piece of parchment and of much heavier quality than is usual.
