Charles HARRIS of Liscard, Cheshire. Bookkeeper Thomas James MULLINEUX of Liscard, Cheshire. Foreman Labourer. Eliza Ann HARRIS (deceased) formerly the wife of Charles HARRIS SUBJECT The document begins by reciting that Eliza Ann Harris died in 1877 survived by her husband Charles Harris and her eldest brother Thomas Mullineux who was her heir at law. At this time, she owned a one-eight share of some freehold property in Liscard, Cheshire. Charles Harris is now selling his interest in the property to Thomas Mullineux for £75.l (This is an early example of a married woman owning property in her own right, which only became possible in very limited circumstances in 1870. It looks as though her husband acquired a life interest in it after her death, but the reversion passed to her brother who was her heir at law.). | |||||||||||
