|Summary of contents:|
Mary BARKER of Castle Sowerby, Cumberland.
Henry DENTON of Castle Sowerby, Cumberland.
George Gell MOUNSEY Castle Sowerby, Cumberland. Steward of the Manor.
This is a record of a Court Baron of the Manor of Castle Sowerby. It tells us that Mary Barker is surrendering copyhold land in the manor to the Lord of the Manor and that Henry Denton is then immediately admitted to it.
The property conists of a messuage and parcel of land called Holme Head at Stocklewath.
(It is not clear to me what is going on here. Henry Denton is only paying 5 shillings and Mary Barker retains the right to dispose of the property either by her will or otherwise).
