Robert WALTON the Elder of Baresby (?) Leicestershire. Farmer. Benjamin SIMPKIN the Elder (deceased) of Thurmaston, Leicestershire. Grazier. Joseph PEAKE of Blaby, Leicestershire. Grazier. Edward HEXTALL of Beeby, Leicestershire. Gentleman. Joseph SIMPKIN of Blaby, Leicestershire. Woolcomber. SUBJECT The document relates to property in Blaby, Leicestershire, consisting of a messuage and two plots of land totalling about 5 acres. We are told that Joseph Simpkin bought this property in 1772 and immediately mortgaged it to Benjamin Simpkin for £500. By 1775, Joseph Simpkin had repaid £100 of this mortgage and then sold the property to Joseph Peake for £50, the latter taking over the residue of the mortgage. (The property was then called Pye Dike). Benjamin Simpkin died in 1783, having appointed Robert Walton as Executor. Since then, Joseph Peake has paid a further £200 off the mortgage and in this Indenture is now paying off the balance of £156. Accordingly, the property is being assigned to him. Edward Hextall appears to act only as a trustee and plays little real part. | ||||||||||||
