Esquire SUBJECT The document begins by reciting an Agreement of 1803 in which Christopher Aplin (senior - now deceased) agreed to sell copyhold property to Richard Cox for £7400. This sale was to take place after the death of Mrs Sarah D'Oyly who was tenant for life. Sarah D'Oyly died in 1821 and the sale is now being made. In the meantime, Christopher Aplin (senior) died in 1806 leaving his property in trust for his wife during her lifetime and then to his children. The original trustees have since died, but the Rev William Cotton Risley is the heir of one of them and continues to exercise that function. Accordingly, Esther Aplin (the widow of Christopher Aplin senior) together with all her sons, daughters, son in law, and the surviving trustee, are selling the property to Richard Cox. It consists of copyhold lands and tenements in Blackthorn and Ambrosden. | |||||||||||||
