PARTIES
Thomas MAYO of Birtsmorton, Worcestershire. Butcher, and MARY his wife, formerly Mary HART, Widow. William POPE (commonly called Joseph POPE) of Castlemorton, Worcestershire. Farmer. James HART of Berrow, Worcestershire. Farmer. SUBJECT This indenture relates to a parcel of 4 acres of pasture called Casson Park together with an acre of woodland called Casson Park Wood. Both are in the Parish of Berrow, Worcestershire, on the South side of the highway from Berrow to Ledbury. We are told that in 1856 William Hart (then the husband of Mary Hart) and James Hart bought this property in equal shares. William died in 1863 leaving his share to his wife Mary. In 1867, before her marriage to Thomas Mayo, Mary placed the prperty in the hands of William Pope (so as to keep it out of the hands of her future husband). Now William Pope, by the direction of Thomas and Mary Mayo, is selling her share of the property to James Hart for £200. | |||||||||||||
