PARTIES
James Worledge of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Accountant George Hallen of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Gentleman Edward Nicholls of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Weaver John Thomas Smith of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Gentleman Thomas Jevons of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Victualler John Pritchard of Brosley, Shropshire, Gentleman. SUBJECT This is a complicated document and it is not easy to see quite how all the people listed above fit in. The simple part is that James Worledge is mortgaging property in Kidderminster to Edward Nicholls for £200. This property consists of 2 houses recently or now being erected by James Worledge on a plot of land in Barn Street, Kidderminster. The land is part of a larger plot called The Paddock on which James Worledge has erected a total of 8 houses. James Worledge bought the land from George Hallen in August 1818 but it is not clear why George Hallen is a party to this contract. There is a complication arising from an earlier Indenture of 1805 in which the residue of a term of 99 years came to be vested in John Pritchard. This residue is now being transferred to John Smith - but this appears to be a legal technicality, not a real transaction. It seems that James Worledge has also mortgaged another part of the original plot to Thomas Jevons for £400, who is holding the title deeds as part of his security. Accordingly he covenants to produce these deeds if required. | |||||||||||||||
