|Summary of contents:|
Thomas Nesfield of Whitby, Yorkshire. Master Mariner.
Thomas Wood of Whitby, Yorkshire. Butcher.
James Patrick of 36 Regent Terrace, Kinston upon Hull, Yorkshire. Gentleman.
The indenture relates to number 12 Cleveland Terrace, in the township of Ruswarp, Parish of Whitby, Yorkshire.
This is an unusual conveyance in which Thomas Nesfield is selling the property to Thomas Wood for £350 and 'Thomas Wood has sub-contracted with James Patrick' to sell it on to him for £360. As a result, there are many convoluted phrases such as '£350 paid by James Patrick by the direction of Thomas Wood to Thomas Nesbit'.
A slightly odd bit is that we are told that James Patrick has married at some time after 1 January 1834. I can't imagine what significance this can have, (although James Patrick later declares 'that his widow shall not be entitled to dower out of the property').
