|Title:||Schedule of Title Deeds|
|Date:||24 May 1784|
|Fragile! The first 3 sheets have holes at the corners of the folds, but are otherwise in reasonable condition. 4th sheet is in a bad way, nearly torn in 2, but bottom half is blank, so not too vital. Still very legible and a good document for its age.|
|Paper : 4 sheets 41cm x 32cm.|
|Summary of contents:|
Thomas Matthewman of Shelley, Yorkshire.
Sarah Grice of Sandall cum Magna, Yorkshire. Spinster.
Eleanor Grice of Sandall cum Magna, Yorkshire. Spinster.
Elizabeth Grice of Sandall cum Magna, Yorkshire. Spinster.
The title written on the document is 'A Schedule of the title Deeds of Mr Thomas Matthewman touching a Freehold Estate of his situate in Shelley in the County of Yorkshire'.
The Schedule begins with an Indenture in the 19th year of Queen Elizabeth and lists a total of 25 indentures with grants of probate etc up to 1784. The property came into the Matthewman family in 1733.
The final deed is an Indenture of Demise in 1784 between Thomas Matthewman and 3 spinsters, Sarah, Eleanor and Elizabeth Grice of Sandall cum Magna, Yorkshire. This appears to be in respect of a loan of £1,000 from the Grice family. The document appears to be an original dated 24/05/1784 with original signatures by the 3 Misses Grice acknowledging receipt of the deeds listed, and witnessed by John Grice.
