SUBJECT The document is entitled 'an abstract of the title deeds of Mr Thomas Mathewman relating to his estate in Langsett in the County of York, now in mortgage to Mr Stephen Hammerton in trust for Mr Shepley for securing the repayment of four hundred pounds and interest'. It begins with an indenture of lease and release in 1708 and lists a total of 12 more indentures or other events up to 1773. The final event of 1773 is the mortgage of the property by Thomas Mathewman to Stephen Hammerton with Thomas Shepley acting as a trustee.
