John JOHNSON late of Upper Holloway, Middlesex now of 200 Bell Barn Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire. Gentleman. William James Johnson SMITH of 200 Bell Barn Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire. Packer. SUBJECT The document begins by reciting an Indenture of 1852 in which William Smith (the father of William James Johnson Smith) mortgaged property in Edgbaston, Warwickshire to Mary Francis for £250. Then in 1854 the mortgage was transferred to John Johnson. Also in 1854 William Smith married Mary Ann Johnson (we are not told that Mary is related to John Johnson - but it looks very likely) and their eldest son William (party to this contract) was born in 1846. William Smith (the father) died intestate in 1853 leaving his eldest son as heir at law. William James Smith is now paying £300 to John Johnson (which is both principal and interest) and the property is being reconveyed to him. The property contains 2 houses numbered 200 and 201 Bell Barn Road on a plot of 383 sq.yds. There is also a cottage and 4 other houses erected on the plot by William Smith. | |||||||||||
