William HARRIS of Westcotes in or near Leicester, Leicestershire. Gentleman. Emily Mary JOHNSON of Leicester. Leicestershire. Spinster. John Thomas MONK of 44 Bramstone Gate, Leicester, Leicestershire. Carpenter. Thomas BERRIDGE of Croft Lodge, Leicestershire. Farmer and Grazier. William MARCHANT of Brookhill Street., Hinckley, Leicestershire. Trimmer ? SUBJECT The document begins by reciting an Indenture of 1856 in which John Monk (the father of John Thomas Monk) mortgaged property at Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, to Arthur Johnson for £150. Then 1866, after the death of Arthur Johnson, the mortgage appears to have been transferred to Emily Johnson with William Harris acting probably as some sort of Trustee. In 1882 John Monk died leaving his property to his son John Thomas Monk and his son in law William Marchant acting as trustees for the benefit of his wife Hannah. Hannah Monk died in 1882 and now the two trustees are selling the property to Thomas Berridge for £350 of which £150 will be paid direct to Emily Johnson to pay off the mortgage. The property is all at Sutton in the Parish of Broughton Abbey, and consists of 2 messuages, a cottage, a bakehouse and land totalling 2 acres. | |||||||||||||
