John PRICE of the Parish of Grosmont, Monmouthshire, Labourer. James JONES of the Parish of Grosmont, Monmouthshire. Farmer. SUBJECT John Price is mortgaging a cottage in Grosmont, Monmouthshire, to James Jones for £18. We are told that the cottage was "formerly and for many years in the occupation of Thomas Price, father of the said John Price". It is bounded by farms called The Well Farm and The Lower Farm. Then in the second indenture of 1868, John Price borrows a further £20 on the same security. Various paper items attached indicate that John Price died in 1875 and the cottage was inherited by Thomas Price and that the latter promptly paid off the mortgage. By 1907 Thomas Price had died and the cottage passed to his son Ralph Allen Price. At this time the cottage was called Wrens Nest. | ||||||||||||
