|Summary of contents:|
Charles FORD of Hanley of the Manor of Newcastle under Lyme, China Manufacturer.
Thomas Frederick OWEN of Shelton, Grocer.
This is a document from the Customary Court of the Manor of Newcastle-under-Lyme which tells us that Charles Ford is selling copyhold property in the manor to Thomas Owen for £48-18-8d. It records the standard procedures of surrender of the property by Charles Ford followed by the admission to it of Thomas Owen.
The property consists of 4 pieces of land in Shelton in the Manor of Newcastle under Lyme known as Old Lanc, Four Acres, Road Filed and Tollgate Field on the main road from Hanley to Stoke on Trent.
A small printed memorandum is attached dated 1893 from the 'Legacy and Succession Duty Office'. It appears to relate to the death of someone with the surname Keeling."
